An artist residency on Ilhabela Island, Brazil, focused on creative immersion in nature.
Casa Na Ilha is an artist-in-residence program based on Ilhabela Island off the coast of São Paulo, Brazil, set within the Mata Atlântica (Atlantic Forest) ecosystem. Since opening in 2017, it has hosted over 300 international artists through monthly multidisciplinary residencies as well as writing and workshop sessions, offering time and space away from daily distractions for focused creative work. Beyond its Ilhabela base, the organization runs itinerant, nomadic immersion programs in other fragile ecosystems across South America, including the Amazon Rainforest and Patagonia, Argentina. Its work centers on deep environmental engagement, connecting artists with local communities and cultures while using observation of nature as a tool for artistic transformation.
