Meals
Some meals (at least 2 meals provided). Daily small breakfast (coffee, tea, milk, fruits, bread) and a weekly group dinner (vegetarian menu, home made). Residents have access to a shared, equipped kitchen (refrigerator, stove, blender, pots, etc.) to cook lunch and other dinners.
Mentorship
A tutor is on location 24/7 to discuss ideas, projects and progress of work during the residency, respecting the artist's pace and direction. No set program or itinerary; formal appointments for project and work discussion can be made on residence as many times as needed by the artist. Guidance is also given to help make contacts, approaches and arrangements with different parties the project requires.
Compensation details
Residency fees are paid by the artist:
Partners not participating in the program pay 50% of the fee in private room.
The fee includes daily breakfast and a weekly group dinner.
Requirements
Send an e-mail to info@casanailha.org to receive your application form. To apply we will ask: a short bio or statement; a proposal describing the project or idea that you would like develop during the stay at Casa na Ilha; a brief description of what you do or a selection of works or writing samples (maximum of 12 items); a link to website/blog (if you have one).
Open to artists based anywhere in the world. Any stage of career — Casa na Ilha welcomes artists with a professional standing in their field and emerging artists of promising talent. Both individual and group applications are accepted; may apply as a team. Applications are accepted in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Spouses/partners allowed for full stay (non-collaborators); partners not participating in the program pay 50% of the fee in private room.
