Managing Applications
Managing Applications
After you submit, here's how to track your applications and respond to updates.
View your applications
Go to My Applications from your dashboard. You'll see all your applications with their current status.
Status meanings:
- Draft — Started but not submitted
- Submitted — Successfully sent
- Under Review — Being evaluated
- Shortlisted — Selected for further consideration
- Accepted — You got in
- Not Selected — This one didn't work out
Click any application to see full details and the history of updates.
Filter and sort
Use filters to find specific applications:
- By status (submitted, under review, accepted, etc.)
- By opportunity type (grants, residencies, exhibitions)
- By date submitted
- By deadline
Sort by most recent, deadline, or alphabetically.
Respond to requests
Organizations may request additional materials or information. When this happens:
- You'll get an email notification
- The request appears in your application details
- Click the application to see what's needed
- Provide the requested materials before any stated deadline
Respond promptly—delays can affect your standing.
Handle acceptances
When you're accepted:
- You'll receive an email notification
- Your application status changes to "Accepted"
- Review any next steps or instructions from the organization
- Respond within the timeframe they specify
Some acceptances require confirmation. Don't leave organizations waiting.
Handle rejections
Not every application succeeds. When you're not selected:
- You'll typically receive an email notification
- Your application status changes to "Not Selected"
- Move on and apply to other opportunities
Rejections are normal. The ratio of applications to acceptances varies widely, but most artists face many rejections for each acceptance. Keep applying.
Withdraw an application
If you need to withdraw:
- Open the application
- Click Withdraw Application
- Confirm withdrawal
Reasons to withdraw:
- You're no longer interested
- You've been accepted elsewhere
- Your circumstances changed
Withdrawing is better than accepting something you can't follow through on.
Keep records
Your application history stays in Artsume, giving you a record of:
- What you've applied to
- When you applied
- Which materials you submitted
- Outcomes
Use this history when preparing future applications or tracking your career progress.
