Promote a program
What a promotion delivers on Artsume: thirty days first in Explore and on the map, the feed, one Monday update, Artsume's social channels, and a report.
A promotion places one of your programs in front of the artists it suits, for thirty days. You pay once for each promotion, or you use the promotion that Artsume Pro for organizations includes with every paid year. Publishing a program and sharing it yourself stay free.
This page covers what a promotion delivers, which programs can be promoted, and how to start one. For prices, see the pricing page.
What a promotion delivers
One promotion delivers five things.
- First in Explore and on the map. For thirty days your program sits at the top of the list on Explore and keeps its pin on the map, with the Promoted label. It appears for the artists whose search, filters and map area it matches.
- The feed. Artists whose roles suit your program see it in their feed, with the Promoted label.
- One Monday update. Your program goes out once in the Promoted section of the Monday update, the weekly email Artsume sends to artists and arts professionals. It reaches the people it suits who have not applied.
- Artsume's social channels. Artsume posts your program on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X and Threads.
- A report. When the promotion ends, Artsume emails you a report of what was delivered: each placement, the Monday update it went out in, a link to each social post, and the applications that arrived while it ran. Artsume does not claim that the promotion caused them.
A promotion runs for thirty days from its start. It ends earlier if applications close.
What a promotion does not promise
A promotion buys the placements above. It does not promise a number of views, a number of applications, or delivery to every artist. Artsume shows a promoted program to the artists it suits, and each person's email settings still decide what they receive. A promotion does not change how applicants fit your program.
When no Monday update falls in the window
The Monday update goes out once a week. If your program closes before the next one, the promotion cannot include it. The promotion screen tells you so before you pay or use an included promotion, and the price does not change.
Which programs can be promoted
A program can be promoted when all of these are true:
- It is published and open for applications.
- It is public, and so is your organization's page. An unlisted program cannot be promoted.
- Its deadline is at least three days away.
- It has no promotion running already. A program holds one promotion at a time.
When one of these is not true, the promotion screen names the reason and how to fix it.
Start a promotion
Only owners and admins can start a promotion. Staff can open the promotion screen and read the offer.
Open the promotion screen from any of these places:
- After you publish. The page that follows Publish offers the promotion.
- The program builder. Choose Promote from the ⋮ More menu near the title.
- Programs. Choose Promote on the row of an open program.
- Applications. Choose Promote on a program's group.
- Explore. In your organization's Explore, each of your open programs carries a Promote this program row.
What the screen offers depends on your plan:
- Without Artsume Pro, you choose between two options. Promote once is one payment for this promotion. Get Artsume Pro starts the yearly plan, which includes one promotion every paid year. After that payment you confirm the included promotion on this program with one press.
- On Artsume Pro, with an included promotion, you select Use included promotion. No payment is taken. You can also keep it for another program and pay for this one.
- On Artsume Pro, with no included promotion left, you pay half of the standard price.
A promotion that you pay for is one payment. It does not renew. Payments are non-refundable, and tax is added where it applies.
Follow a promotion
A promoted program shows Promoted on its row in Programs and on its group in Applications. Open the promotion screen again to see the day the promotion ends, each placement with what has been recorded for it, and the applications received since it started.
Settings → Billing lists every promotion your organization has run, and how many included promotions you have. See Billing and renewals for how included promotions carry forward.
