“Material research; sustainable and biobased approaches to fashion, textile, and design materials; ecological transitions in creative practice”
The Jan van Eyck Academie offers two 11-month Material Research Fellowships running 15 January – 15 December 2027. The Fashion & Textile Material Fellowship supports an existing research project exploring sustainable and biobased approaches to fashion and/or textile materials, in collaboration with Textile Innovation Maastricht (TIM). The Future Materials Fellowship supports an existing project featuring a biobased material or process applicable across a broad range of creative practices, with access to CHILL at Brightlands Chemelot Campus. Both Fellows work among a cohort of ~35 international artists, designers, curators, writers, and other creative minds, supported by the Jan van Eyck Labs — Future Materials, Material Matters, Food, Printing & Publishing, Photography & Audiovisual, and the Library. These positions are part of the Future Threads programme, supported by the JTF Fonds voor Rechtvaardige Transitie.
