Since its launch in 2020, Cruce has hosted more than 70 national and international participants from diverse disciplines and professional backgrounds. The programme fosters temporary communities that share time, resources, and dialogue with the inhabitants of the Ricote Valley, creating a sustainable ecosystem rooted in exchange and collaboration.
Cruce encourages independence, cultural diversity, and pluralism. It promotes new models of living and alternative ways of thinking by offering participants the conditions to develop their projects while experiencing the rhythm and traditions of southern Spain.
Surrounded by mountains and overlooking the Segura River, Blanca provides an ideal environment for focused work and inspiration. Participants can access studios, coworking areas, and event spaces, all within Centro Negra AADK Spain's headquarters - where contemporary creation and community converge.
Duration of Residency: Residency stays are available from 2 weeks to 6 months. Flexible arrival and departure dates are arranged upon request.
Accommodation: Participants can choose between:
• Private studio apartment: Equipped with private kitchen, bathroom (shower + toilet), and shared terrace with panoramic views of Blanca. Bedding and towels included.
• Private room in shared house (EDOM): Located in the center of Blanca, five minutes from Centro Negra. Includes shared kitchen, living room, and bathrooms; fully equipped with washing machine, bedding, and towels. Ideal for immersion in local life and exchange with other residents.
Disciplines, Work Equipment and Assistance: Cruce welcomes independent creators, artists, researchers, writers, entrepreneurs, and digital nomads from all disciplines. The programme provides access to basic equipment, Wi-Fi, and logistical support, ensuring a comfortable environment for both artistic and professional development. Participants receive guidance from the AADK Spain team and have opportunities to connect with residents from other ongoing programmes at Centro Negra.
Studio / Workspace: Workspaces are located in Centro Negra, a former fortress transformed into a contemporary art center overlooking the Ricote Valley. The building features:
• 5 artist studios shared between Cruce and the Research Residency Programme
• Coworking area with mountain views, outdoor chill-out zone, and kitchenette
• 6 interconnected studio spaces adaptable to different creative practices and collaborative work
Centro Negra is reachable only on foot (5-minute walk from the village center), offering a peaceful and inspiring setting immersed in nature.
Fees and Support: Accommodation and workspace access are offered through flexible packages. Fees vary depending on the type of accommodation and duration of stay.
Expectations towards the Artist: Participants are encouraged to engage actively with the local context, contribute to the shared community atmosphere, and respect the rhythms of collective life at Centro Negra. The programme values self-initiative, collaboration, and openness to dialogue between artistic and non-artistic disciplines.
