“Welcoming, inclusive public environment for a diverse multi-sport park community”
Commission to design and paint a large-scale exterior mural on a freestanding cinder block skate shack/washroom/concession building at Sherwood Heights Multi-Sport Park in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Four exterior walls available, each approximately 30 ft wide × 8 ft 8 in high. Work should create a welcoming, inclusive environment for a community engaging in skating, baseball, pickleball, and children's play. Special consideration given to local artists, artists living and working on Treaty 6 Territory, and equity-deserving communities including BIPOC and LGBTQ2S+ artists.

One PDF file (maximum 10 MB) including: portfolio (maximum 10 images), CV, Artist Bio, Letter of Intent, and contact information for two references. Letter of Intent should outline the type of mural interested in creating, proposed themes and imagery, how much of the building to activate, and any accessibility requirements.

Jury composed of community members and Strathcona County staff reviews submissions. Selected artist is contracted to develop mural concept in consultation with project team.
