“Abstraction”
Blind-juried exhibition of 2D and 3D abstract work in any media, inspired by mid-century painters like Lee Krasner, Helen Frankenthaler, Joan Mitchell, Elaine de Kooning, Willem de Kooning, and Franz Kline. Juror Patrick Schmidt—geometric abstract painter and professor at Washington & Jefferson College—brings a lens shaped by hard-edge/op-art movements and the Pattern & Decoration Movement. Selected works shown at Maryland Hall's Earl Gallery in Annapolis, MD, July 8–August 15, 2026. All work must be for sale; artists retain 70% (75% for MFA Members). $1,000 in awards. Maximum 6 original works created within the past 3 years; max size 72" in any direction.

Open to artists residing in the United States (including Puerto Rico), Canada, and Mexico. All work must be original and completed solely by the artist's hand, created within the past 3 years. Work previously exhibited at MFA Circle Gallery or Maryland Hall is not eligible for re-entry. If artwork is part of a limited edition, total edition size must be stated. Work must be for sale.
